Hello and welcome to our site. The purpose for creating it is to allow you to know us better without having to actually engage in dialogue with us.

It's often easier to contact someone you know a little about. You'll learn more about us, our interests, and what we think on a variety of things. If you like what all this has to say, please feel free to contact us.

OUR FAMILY

Laura, Paul, Dylan and Brady

Family is not just an important thing, it's everything. Our family is blessed with many things, but what we are most thankful for is that we have each other.

Some of the family activities we enjoy doing together are eating out, watching movies, riding bikes, playing with Brady or having family time. This means congregating in the living room and talking, or as Laura likes to say, 'visitatin'.

LAURA'S INTERESTS

Some of Laura's Favorite Things To Do

  • Music - lots of music! I like Classic Rock, Hard Rock, R&B, Pop, Country, Contemporary Christian, and the Oldies.
  • Movies. I like comedies, science-fiction, and 'chick-flicks' the best. Some of my favorite movies are Stand By Me, Major Payne, Back to the Future, Princess Bride, Willow, Big Fish, Sleepless in Seattle, Dumb and Dumber, Bridget Jones' Diary, Forrest Gump, Star Wars, Lord of The Rings series, Batman Returns and Spiderman. Pretty deep stuff, huh?
  • I like getting together with family for birthday parties, barbecues, the Super Bowl, etc. Counting my Mom, Dad, Step-Mom, brothers, their wives and kids... we number over twenty people!
  • I've always wanted to travel. I want to go to Washington State one day and see those big, giant Redwood trees. I'd also like to go to Yellowstone National Park. Next on my list is New York City and while I'm up that way, visit Niagra Falls. I've also always wanted to visit Florida and go to Disney World. I've had Colorado on my mind too. And when it comes to traveling overseas, I'd like to go to Israel, Hawaii, the Caribbean Islands, and all over Europe.
  • I like watching cable news, especially Fox & Friends in the morning. My favorite TV shows are: American Idol, Biggest Loser, Heroes, 1 vs. 100, Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?, HGTV's Divine Design, Designer's Challenge, and Landscape Challenge.
  • Organizing! I like knowing where everything is. We make several trips to Goodwill throughout the year to get rid of stuff we have accumulated. I'm not the best housekeeper but it's neat and semi-orderly (we have a baby). I'm blessed that Paul helps me keep the house in order.
  • I like going out to eat. Really, it's more of a way to spend time with my family. In Conway, our favorite places to go are Stoby's, Mike's Place, and Holly's. When we're visiting Paul's family in Rocky Mount, NC, we like to eat at The Hunter Hill Cafe, which is Paul's mother's restaurant. They serve wonderful home cooking as well as yummy eastern North Carolina barbecue!
Some of Laura's Least Favorite Things To Do
  • Waking up early on Saturday and Sunday mornings. Before we go to bed, I make sure all of the telephone ringers are turned off. Paul thinks it's funny.
  • Ironing. But I force myself to do it, of course.
  • Being cold. Year-round at work, you'll find me bundled up in a sweater and a blanket. We also keep a blanket in the trunk of the car for roadtrips so Paul can keep the A/C blasting. Yes, blasting.
  • Computer spyware. You don't know aggravation until you've had your computer hijacked by this stuff.

PAUL'S INTERESTS

Some of Paul's Favorite Things To Do

  • Spending time with my family. I also like watching Dylan grow up and hanging out with him. Now that Brady is on the scene, I'm having a blast watching him crawl all over the house and get into everything. I just love being a daddy!
  • I love to read and wish I had more time to do it. I prefer non-fiction.
  • Watching high school and college football. I try not to watch too much television, but when it comes to college football, I could park it in front of the tube all day Saturday until the last game is over. I used to watch the NFL too, and occasionally I still do, but I just tired of the athletes who are making millions of dollars whining all the time about how they're not making enough money and being 'disrespected' by the team owners and management.
  • Going to Dylan's football games and school plays. He also likes to perform on stage in various plays and musicals. This makes me wonder - do we have a future star in the making?
  • Playing with our black Lab, Clarence. Whether it's taking him for a walk around the neighborhood or letting him run in the park while we ride bikes, it's always fun to be with Clarence. He never complains, always has a good attitude, and is so enthusiastic. But when he starts wagging his tail, you'd better watch out. Getting hit by that thing hurts!
  • Going to the beach in eastern North Carolina. There's just something about the crashing of the waves, the salt in the air, and the sand in between your toes that makes going to the beach such a memorable experience. And nothing quite compares to eating local, fresh seafood. Let's play some of that shaggin' beach music!
Some of Paul's Least Favorite Things To Do
  • Raking leaves and acorns. I love trees and the changing colors of the leaves in the fall - but I hate raking. I would rather run the lawnmower over the yard and mulch everything. Sometimes, however, the only way to do the job right is to get out the rake and get with it!
  • Because of my hearing loss, it's tough for me to hear in a crowded room with a lot of background noise. So I prefer to talk with people one-on-one in a quiet place, preferably with a limited amount of noise. Otherwise, I tend to not talk. Sometimes people may interpret this as not being sociable, when in fact, I simply cannot hear.
  • Poop Patrol. 'Nuff said. Our dog, Clarence, likes to leave us 'presents' in the backyard. However, I like stepping in it even less. I'm still working on training Dylan to do this job, but sometimes he needs 'backup' support, if you know what I mean.

DYLAN'S INTERESTS

Dylan is seventeen years old and attends school - against his will.

When he grows up, he says he would like to be an engineer. He likes to play football, baseball, swim, ride his bike, play X-Box 360, tell jokes, and play with his cousins and friends. But most of all, he loves to play with our black Lab, Clarence.

A famous Dylan quote is: "What would happen if ....."

OUR HOUSE

We live in Conway, Arkansas. Our home is located in an older, established neighborhood with lots of big trees and green grass. One of the things we like best about our house is that it is near a public park. It's great and convenient when we want to ride bikes and take Clarence for a run. He just loves it!

We especially like the fact that several boys Dylan's age live in our neighborhood, so he has friends to play with. Laura likes the fact that her commute to work is short enough that she can come home for lunch every day. We simply couldn't ask for a home with better neighbors or a better location!

OUR DOG

When I was growing up, our house was situated on a corner lot, with the backyard consisting of a concrete driveway, a basketball goal and a garage. There was a deck on the side of the house and a nice front lawn, but no backyard. Consequently, my brother and I never had a dog.

After Laura and I were married, I was determined to eventually get a dog for our son, Dylan (pictured). A few years later, we bought our current home, with a large fenced-in backyard. My wife and I soon began to talk of getting a dog.

I had always known Labrador Retrievers made good pets. When I was growing up, several of my friends had Labs. Labradors are people-oriented and great with kids.

In June of 2005, Laura and I were driving through a subdivision in town. We spotted an SUV in a driveway with a magnetic sign on the door. It was an advertisement for a Labrador Retriever breeder and trainer. We decided to stop and talk to the two men who were standing outside.

The owner of the dog training business said he only trained Labs for hunting and dog shows. He did, however, have a six month-old black Lab whose temperament would not make a good hunting or show dog. He believed, though, the dog would make a great pet. Well, that's what we were looking for! We told him we would like to see the puppy.

Three days later, the trainer brought the puppy to our house. He told us his name was Clarence. If for any reason we we didn't want to keep him, he would take him back. Naturally, we fell in love with Clarence and have had him ever since!

We take Clarence for walks in our neighborhood. When we ride bikes at the nearby park, he likes to run with us. However, the number one thing Clarence loves to do is to go bye-bye with the family! His ears perk up when he hears the car keys jingle, and he'll trot to the front door as if to say, "I'm ready to go!" Because a trained dog is a free dog, we allow him to go just about anywhere.

I've always believed a boy should grow up with a dog. They can run off and explore the world together. A boy can tell his secrets to his dog and never fear he'll be betrayed. In regards to Dylan, getting Clarence was one of the best things we have ever done.

And that little boy, whose house didn't have a backyard, finally got his dog too.
